Nominated for its partnership with Hispanics in Philanthropy to launch the Latino Community Foundation of Colorado (LCFC), the award recognizes Rose’s efforts “to advance cross-cultural collaborations while strengthening philanthropic participation in communities of color.” Rose Community Foundation will reinvest the $50,000 grant that accompanies the award in the LCFC, which is housed at Rose. The Jay and Rose Phillips Family Foundation and Western Union Foundation are also funding partners, along with the LCFC’s 15 founding donors. About the AwardThe W.K. Kellogg Foundation National Leadership in Action Award was established in 2004 to recognize, celebrate and promote outstanding philanthropic and nonprofit leadership in communities of color. The award is designed to honor innovative approaches to connecting resources of time, money and know-how toward mutually responsible and just social change. Up to five grant awards of $50,000 are made each year to organizations in recognition of their distinctive work in philanthropy. At least one of the grant awards gives special recognition to efforts that advance cross-cultural collaborations and strengthen philanthropic participation across communities of color.
