April 21, 2008 Denver, CO - Cheryl McDonald has been promoted to grants manager at Rose Community Foundation. In this capacity, she oversees the administrative and technical functions of the Foundation’s $12 million annual grantmaking program. Prior to her promotion, McDonald worked at the Foundation as a program assistant since 2004.
April 14, 2008 Denver, CO - Over the past two years, 27 metro-area Jewish organizations have secured an estimated $36 million in pledged bequests from 433 donors through a campaign supported by Rose Community Foundation. The initiative, Live On: Build Your Jewish Legacy, was designed to help the participating organizations build permanent endowments through bequests and estate gifts. Participating organizations included schools, synagogues and nonprofit organizations addressing a broad spectrum of community needs.
April 2, 2008 Denver, CO - Rose Community Foundation’s board of trustees has announced the appointment of two new members to the Foundation’s Jewish Life Committee – Michelle Osterman and Phil Weiser. The Committee’s members provide guidance and expertise to support the Foundation’s mission, programs and policies. Through its Jewish Life program area, the Foundation supports the Greater Denver Jewish community through outreach to unconnected Jews, experiences that promote Jewish growth, organizational development and leadership development.
March 17, 2008 Denver, CO - Rose Community Foundation has been named a Silver Award winner for excellence in communications by the 2008 Wilmer Shields Rich Awards Program. Sponsored by the Council on Foundations, the awards program recognizes effective communications efforts to increase public awareness of foundations and corporate giving programs.
February 25, 2008 Denver, CO - Roots & Branches Foundation, a grantmaking initiative of Rose Community Foundation, has awarded $94,570 in grants to nine projects that directly benefit Jewish individuals ages 25 to 40 by involving them in new and innovative Jewish activities. The grants will be awarded at a March 10 celebration for members of Roots & Branches Foundation and grant recipients.

February 7, 2008 Denver, CO - The Latino Community Foundation of Colorado (LCFC), in conjunction with the national organization Hispanics in Philanthropy (HIP), has awarded its first grants totaling $200,000. The grants were awarded to strengthen 13 organizations across the state that are led by and serve Latinos.

January 16, 2008 Denver, CO - Sue Miller, a breast cancer survivor and founder of the Day of Caring for Breast Cancer Awareness, has established the Sue Miller Transitions Fund at Rose Community Foundation. This charitable fund will provide financial support to organizations and programs serving the medical and mental health needs of people living with breast cancer.
December 12 , 2007 Denver, CO - Twenty-three Jewish youth in grades 9 through 12 have been selected as members of Rose Youth Foundation, including nine returning members from last year. Now beginning its seventh year, Rose Youth Foundation is a grantmaking initiative of Rose Community Foundation to teach youth about philanthropy, as well as to provide the Foundation with the unique perspectives of young people on the needs and challenges of the Jewish community. Rose Youth Foundation includes teens representing 13 Denver-area schools and seven municipalities. They also represent a broad spectrum of Judaism, describing themselves as Orthodox, Reform, Reconstructionist, Conservative and secular Jews.
November 6 , 2007 Denver, CO - The 18-member Roots & Branches Foundation, organized and funded by Rose Community Foundation, is now actively seeking grant proposals for innovative programs and projects offered within the seven-county Denver/Boulder community. In December 2007, Roots & Branches Foundation will grant up to $94,470 for efforts that directly benefit Jewish individuals ages 25 to 40 by involving them in Jewish activities or by engaging them in secular or Jewish community activities to help others.

October 1 , 2007 Denver, CO – Rose Community Foundation has awarded 12 grants of $5,000 for efforts to mobilize the experience and knowledge of the baby boom generation for social benefit. The Boomer Innovation Grants (BIG) program is part of Rose Community Foundation’s Boomers Leading Change initiative, which is working to expand opportunities for baby boomers to live meaningful and productive lives in their 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond.
