Joint Statement on the 208 Commission Recommendations Colorado’s health foundations – Caring for Colorado Foundation, Rose Community Foundation, The Colorado Health Foundation and The Colorado Trust – individually and collectively commend the work of the Colorado Blue Ribbon Commission for Health Care Reform (208 Commission) by issuing this statement of support. The four foundations share a strong commitment to seeing that all Coloradans have access to affordable and quality health services. We believe that the 208 Commission process played a critical role in researching the need, soliciting public input, exploring options and developing the framework for increased access. By bringing together a diverse group of people and interests, the 208 Commission has developed a road map for health care reform that has support from numerous and diverse groups throughout the state. It offers the promise of ensuring that all Coloradans will have affordable coverage in a more streamlined, accountable system of care. We appreciate the time, energy and passion that each Commissioner brought to the process. Collectively and as individual foundations, we encourage policymakers to take action. Meaningful change will be a long term process that will require the dedicated leadership of policymakers to turn the vision of the 208 Commission into a reality for all Coloradans.
