Rose Community Foundation Announces New Jewish Life Committee Appointments

Denver, CO - Rose Community Foundation’s board of trustees has announced the appointment of two new members to the Foundation’s Jewish Life Committee – Michelle Osterman and Phil Weiser. The Committee’s members provide guidance and expertise to support the Foundation’s mission, programs and policies. Through its Jewish Life program area, the Foundation supports the Greater Denver Jewish community through outreach to unconnected Jews, experiences that promote Jewish growth, organizational development and leadership development.

With a background in education focused on children with special needs, Michelle Osterman is an active volunteer with several organizations. She is past board president and continues to volunteer with Allied Jewish Federation Boulder Women's Center and Community Food Share in Boulder, where she is also president emeritus of the fundraising guild. In addition, she has headed fundraising efforts for Alexander Dawson School and PassageWorks Institute (previously known as PassageWays.) Osterman has an undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona, where she also earned her master’s degree in special education.

Phil Weiser is a professor at the University of Colorado (CU) Law School and Associate Dean for Research. He is also the executive director of Silicon Flatirons Center at CU, which provides a forum for the discussion of changing technologies and associated legal issues. Prior to this, Weiser served as a senior counsel at the U.S. Department of Justice and as a law clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Justices Byron White and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Weiser has served on boards and committees of: the Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado, Denver Community Kollel, Hillel of Colorado and the Robert E. Loup Jewish Community Center. He also co-chairs the Colorado Innovation Council, which was formed in 2007 by Colorado Governor Bill Ritter. Weiser earned a degree in political science from Swarthmore College and a law degree from New York University School of Law, both with high honors. He is the author of two books and numerous articles.
